Energy saving in Morocco

Energy saving bulbs in the souk

The souks (markets) in Marrakech in Morocco would be closed down if they were in the UK. They would fail most of our health and safety standards by a considerable margin.

Therefore I found it quite a surprise that energy saving light bulbs were in such an abundance. In fact the wide spread use of them puts us to shame in the UK.

I wonder if their use is subsidised or sponsored?
