email on mobile phone

The email I received was titled:

Years 7-12 – RSE Letter

And the first paragraph was:

As a part of your child’s education at Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx School, we promote personal wellbeing and development through our comprehensive PSMSC programme which in (sic) incorporates both PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) and SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) education. We follow the recommendations laid out by the Department for Education and the PSHE Association.

Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx School

Good grief! I wonder how many parents of children at Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx School could unpick that lot on one read through?

I’m still not sure what the RSE reference in the title means. It’s not mentioned in the body copy.

It’s a lesson to us all: if you want to speak to people, consider using their language first.

Note: I’ve anonymised the school name as a) declaring it doesn’t help them and b) It is actually a very good school.
