Following on from my post about Unhelpful Price Information in Sainsbury’s, I thought I should point out that Sainsbury’s aren’t alone. Here is an example from Tesco. This relates to their Club Card pricing.

| £3.00 with Clubcard | 350g | Not stated (it’s actually £8.57) |
Why can’t they show the price per kilogram for the Clubcard price? Or, why do they choose not to?
If supermarkets really want to help consumers cope with the spiralling prices of their goods, why not start by helping us all to quickly assess the value for money of different pack sizes and brands. Perhaps I’m missing something more obvious.

Where is the logic in showing the price per kilogram for one packet and the single sweetener price on another? And, who on earth finds it helpful to know that Hermesetas are £333.33 per kg?
